As night fell we rolled into the historic town of Berlin, Pennsylvania in search of a charge. About the only thing open was a little place called the House of Miracles, an unlikely amalgam of coffee shop, religious book store and historical site. We plugged the bikes into an exterior outlet and ventured inside, where our senses were immediately assailed by colonial architecture, gregorian chant, and fresh espresso. The door was guarded by a life-sized Roman soldier, but the interior was welcoming, as was the owner, Roger Clarke. Over the next few hours we came to learn that the building we were in was actually the home of Robert Philson, who incited the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794, and was arrested and later pardoned by George Washington.
Philson went on to become a US Congressman, and served as a General in the war of 1812. As we sat around the fire, sipping coffee and learning about the history of Berlin, we began feeling a little like conspirators ourselves, sowing the seeds of a rebellion against the powers-that-be in American transportation. We like to think General Philson would approve.
Enter your name and we'll write it on the Brammo Powercycle that we're trying to give to the President.
